Simply Cakes was established in Guildford in 2000 by award-winning cake designer Jonathan Woodgate. Jonathan trained in baking, confectionary and cake decorating at Brooklands College, Weybridge and went on to study at the prestigious International School of Confectionary in Switzerland, of which he is now a selected member.

After several years in London he set up Simply Cakes to showcase and sell his acclaimed range of designer cakes. His work has been recognised by numerous awards at the British Baking Industry Awards including ‘Celebration Cake Confectioner of the Year’ in 2001.

Jonathan’s artistry enables him to transform clients’ ideas into totally unique cake designs which are guaranteed to create a stunning centre piece at any event. He has created cakes for many corporate and celebrity events including Demi Moore’s 40th birthday, Roger Black’s wedding, Paul Scholes birthday, an album launch cake for David Gilmour and celebration cakes for Chris Evans, Ian Wright and Charles Saatchi. Other recent high profile cakes include the centre piece for the opening of BBC Broadcasting House by the Queen and a replica of The Crown Estates headquarters for the Prince of Wales.
